Fabrication oil and gas has a strong presence here in Zone 16, as well as, great potential for economic growth. Major projects such as Hebron, Vale, and Kiewit are significant. The spin-off opportunities associated with these developments have the potential to transcend this region from a project-based economy to an industrial one.
There are a number of areas that require immediate attention in order for this region to have the resources to capitalize on potential opportunities, as concluded through a consultation process. Including workforce availability and supply chain development, which as been identified by industry and local business.
The SRDC, as a partner in the Eastern Suppliers Development Alliance (ESDA), has worked closely with the Supplier Development Consultant, who in turn is working with the local business community and industry to identify the needs of the industry.
The mandate of the ESDA is to enhance the ability of business in the Eastern Region to competitively supply the oil and gas industry, specifically focusing on the Hebron Project. Through Knowledge building sessions topics such as quality management systems, health and safety issues, advertising and marketing, key concerns for business will be better understood and therefore businesses will be better equipped to competitively bid on work.

Schooner Regional Development Corporation has identified a number of areas, including workforce availability and supply chain development, through consulatation with industry and local business community which require immediate attention. SRDC has taken the initiative to implement strategies to address those needs. SRDCis leading a series of Knowledge Based Seminars which aim to deliver crucial information to businesses who wish to supply the Hebron Project.
