SRDC is playing a lead role in conducting energy audits with three municipalities and three businesses in the region. As this is the first project of this nature, it was decided to keep the number of participants at a minimum to enable SRDC to determine the resources required and success of the project. A committee has been established to analyze demand and other characteristics of their power bills. Newfoundland Power is also a partner in this project; a Representative from NL Power will meet with the Committee and provide training on analyzing demand and other characteristics of their bills. Pending the results of this step, the infrastructure contained in specific buildings will be catalogued, and patterns and trends in energy usage will be discussed and steps recommended and implemented to increase energy efficiency.
